Grape Varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Malbec
This wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. Fermented as small parcels with manual punch downs, the mainly free run must finishes ferment in French barriques to further undergo mlf. The wine is unfined and minimally filtered to enhance body and retain the fine grained tannins.
Aromas of intense cassis and blueberry are supported by plum, black olive, fresh tobacco leaf, dark chocolate and truffle notes. The palate is both huge and velvety, with the fruit and savoury notes tightly held together by the Petit Verdot structure. The finish is seamless with ripe tannins and integrated French oak.
James Halliday: “This is an imperious wine. Statuesque of composure, with a furl of tight, alluvial tannins running the main seam; bright maritime acidity and an impeccably woven tapestry of oak, sew down the edges. The fruit runs the gamut of currant, blue and black fruits all. Ineffable, really. Dried sage, anise and a litany of herbal notes pummel all into a compact, savoury ball of great potential. A very fine cabernet, aided by 18% petit verdot and 9% malbec. Ned Goodwin MW Published 01 August 2017.” Rating: 96pts.
