Appellation: Montagne Saint Emilion
Grapes Varieties: 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon
Chateau Haut Langlade is made from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from high, clayey hills in Montagne Saint Emilion. The 30-year-old vines produce grapes with a special intensity that are supported by the vineyards favorable, sun-facing exposure to the southwest. The must ferments in a concrete and steel tank with 1 month of skin contact. A full year of storage in 1-2-year-old barrique casks softens the wine’s tannins and adds exotic spice as well as extra flavor depth.
Tasting: In the glass, the wine appears deep bread with a purple tinge. In the nose nicely fruity, with dominance of black cherries, blackberries and blue plum. Complex touches of mint, blackcurrant bush, rust, leather and forest floor as well as delicious licorice, cocoa and freshly ground coffee from the dish. In the mouth full-bodied and packed with juicy raspberries and delicious fully rip blackberries. Refreshing finish with slightly spicy fruit charm, reverently followed to the door by friendly but determined tannins.
